Premature standardization

there are many “competing” standardization bodies involved in endorsing of XML based formats (W3C, OASIS, ISO, ECMA)

in some areas global consensus about single XML representation was achieved (SVG, MathML, MusicXML)

in some areas competing standards were created by different business groups using different standardization bodies as hostage
